Dr. Maya M. Warren, Co-Founder

Dr. Maya (she/her) is a dynamic and fun-loving ice cream scientist, world traveler, and motivational speaker!  As a true lover of all things ice cream (and its close cousins) she seeks to inspire people to think beyond their imagination through her passion for the science of ice cream.

Dr. Maya  is a native of St. Louis, MO and received her BA in Chemistry from Carleton College and her PhD in Food Science from University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Her research focused on the microstructure, sensorial, and behavioral properties of frozen aerated desserts. She has gone on to become a leading expert in the ice cream industry and continues to share her depth of knowledge with the world.  You might also recognize Dr. Maya from the Emmy Award winning reality television show, The Amazing Race (Season 25).  Traversing the globe with her former lab mate and candy scientist, Dr. Amy DeJong - these two “Sweet Scientists” became the 3rd female-female team to win The Amazing Race!

Dr. Maya is a true inspiration and leaves her lasting mark as she delivers energetic keynote addresses for schools and organizations across the globe.  In May 2020, she launched an entertaining, fun-filled, and interactive show, Ice Cream Sundays with Dr. Maya, where she brings people together and teaches them how to make No-Churn Ice Cream right at home (Instagram Live - @maya.warren).

Mona B. Lipson, Co-Founder

From a grassroots healthcare organization in Guatemala to uniting hundreds of ice cream makers fighting for racial justice to securing millions of dollars for girls’ STEM education, Mona (she/her) has spent the last 17 years working to drive sustainable lasting change and use business as a force for good. Mona is a determined, agile, and resourceful community builder with a unique breadth of experience across the nonprofit and corporate social impact sectors. Some say she’s a “serial connector” with expertise in cross-sector collaboration, community building, and business development.

Mona has been responsible for securing and managing partnerships across global brands and national nonprofit organizations and most recently launched her own entrepreneurial endeavor, Miss Mona Makes Ice Cream, NYC’s first monthly CST… like a Farm CSA but instead a “Community Supported Treats” program. Through ice cream ingredients and mix-ins, each pint highlights and promotes local makers, bakers, and other small and growing businesses in every monthly subscription box. Mona is a firm believer that the path to creating global impact lies in merging social purpose with business benefit.

Mona documents her ice-capades on @missmonamakesicecream.
